Story ๐Ÿ“–
Brazil has long played a crucial role as one of the most important coffee-producing regions worldwide ๐ŸŒ. It has been significant not only in the classification of grades commonly referred to as "commercial" but also in the specialty grade. However, in the world of specialty coffee, Brazil has mainly served as a component in blends. This was also true for the Bean Brothers Roastery team.

I believe I began to view Brazil as a "single origin" in April 2020. It was the year before when we released coffee from the Volta Da Serra farm, which ranked 11th in the Brazil Cup of Excellence (COE) ๐Ÿ†. It was an opportunity for us to reconsider Brazilian coffee. I also think it marked a turning point in the frequency of releasing Brazilian single-origin coffees at Bean Brothers over the past few years.

Samambaia is a farm that has been leading the trend of Brazilian specialty coffee. It is a key member of the farm association known as Sancoffee, a Brazilian coffee company. Recently, Sancoffee held an auction for the coffee produced by its affiliated farms, and the coffee I'm introducing now, Obata, was the winner of that auction. It offers a delightful sweetness reminiscent of hazelnut and vanilla ๐Ÿจ, with a clean cup โ˜•. Try to discern the subtle floral ๐ŸŒบ and fruity ๐Ÿ’ notes as well.

What is the best consumed date for coffee beans? Are your coffee beans freshly-roasted?

We recommend 7-21 days after the initial roasting date to allow for degassing to take place,ย allowing the flavour of the coffee compoundsย to be properly extracted. Within the first seven days, roasted coffee beans are still releasing carbon dioxide and degassing. If not degassed properly, itย will hinder the extraction of ground coffee particles during the brewing process.

What are the differences between Single Origins and Blends?

Single origin beans are harvested from a single producer, crop, or region, usually delivering a taste profile that is unique to its origins. Blends are a mixture of a few single origin beans, producing aย rich and expressive flavor profile.
