Coffee Story

Honduras ranks among the top five countries in the world in terms of coffee exports, but it is difficult to feel that level of presence in Korea. About 70% of exports are exported to Europe, 25% to North America, and the rest to Asia, so basically the small amount coming into Korea seems to be one of the reasons.

If you say that coffee is weak just because your presence is weak, it doesn’t meant that way. Whenever I drink Honduras coffee, the theme of 'the locality of coffee' comes to mind. African coffee is relatively fruity, and Latin American coffee has a more nutty and chocolate flavor.

However, this categorization does not seem to fit well in Honduras. For a Central American coffee, it seems fruity, and for an African coffee, it often feels savory. There are not only 'well-balanced' coffees, but you can also encounter Honduras coffees with various flavors depending on the variety and climate of the growing region.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Honduras was a powerhouse of commercials, but not of specialties. However, I think Honduras has the potential to boast a strong presence in the specialty coffee industry in the future.
