How did you first encounter Ethiopian coffee?
My first Ethiopian coffee was brewed with an Illy capsule machine when I was in college. I love coffee, but it's hard to drink outside every day, so the next best thing I chose was capsule coffee. The coffee I drank at the time was a typical Ethiopian wash with a distinct citrus flavor like orange or lemon. The taste was so special that I went on a cafe tour in search of a latte made with acidic coffee. Even now, working as a barista is still a great pleasure to learn about the novelties of various Ethiopian coffees. This month's Ethiopian Keramo Natural is an interesting coffee. The complex flavor of red berries and the strange sweetness reminiscent of lychee reminds me of the sensation of bursting juice when you put bubblegum in your mouth and bite it once.
